Hello My Fellow Residency Peeps

For those that are wondering what the heck I’m talking about, this week, June 10-14, 2024, I have had the distinguished pleasure to attend the Summer Residency program held at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. This is part of our maters degree program and it has been beyond educational. We’ve attended lectures, performed one-on-one counseling sessions and presented demonstrations of our knowledge and skills, to name a few.

One thing that my team, Kimberly Dorris and Omar Purghol, who are now officially a part of team SAS, have been able to do is incorporate SAS into our course work. This has brought about a new dimension to our assignments. It has also allowed us to work out some of the kinks we’ve been battling within SAS it’s self.

Now that that’s said, allow me to welcome all our new comers from Residency. What a great experience it has been getting to work with you all. Hopefully you can find something at SAS to be rewarding and helpful to you in your personal journeys. Please feel free to comment on any of the blogs you find interesting. Additionally, please contact us with any requests, comments or suggestions you might have. Thank you for being a part of the SAS community.

Mission Statement: To create connection, community, and support among suicide survivors by providing resources, building relationships, and public speaking to help end the suicide crisis. Using our own personal experiences, we engage the survivor at the earliest phase of the grieving process to aid in their rebuilding process. Our primary focus is using public address via face-to-face or online application; however, we also specialize in mass education and grievance support for military installations, colleges/public schools, churches, work places and individual forums.
